HSE Officer
Reporting to: Business Manager
Division: Industrial Services
Location: Based in Portlaoise / Greenogue but must be available for Nationwide Travel
Main purpose of role:
To support the day to day management and development of health, safety and environmental matters for the Industrial Services Division. The role will involve all aspects of HSE.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support the overall HSE program to ensure compliance with all regulatory and company requirements relating to Enva activities in Industrial Services and off-site works.
- Responsibility for the supporting the ongoing maintenance and development of the Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems, including:
- To carry out risk assessment and hazard identification;
- To effectively communicate HSE requirements to staff through meetings, feedback forums, toolbox talks and learn from events;
- To coordinate manage and deliver HSE related training, (company requirements, procedures new legal requirements etc.), inductions, staff training etc.;
- To draft SOPs & maintain appropriate records and documents;
- To report on incidents and accidents, to carry out investigations and monitor follow up actions;
- To monitor objectives and promote their delivery;
- To support the maintenance of the legal registers;
- To carry out HSE audits and inspections;
- To generate awareness of HSE matters and seek to resolve issues that arise;
- Coordination of required monitoring, measurement and calibration tasks;
- To communicate effectively throughout the company on HSE issues and to actively participate in management meetings.
- Support communications and relationship with all Regulatory Bodies (EPA, HSA) to best represent the interests and intentions of the company.
- To support the Group HSE Manager with regard to the development of group objectives.
- To promote the development of a positive HSE culture within the organisation.
- To provide reports relating to HSE as necessary to management.
- To support the business needs of the company through innovative and efficient approaches in achieving HSE requirements that enhance the continuing development and growth of the company.
- Support emergency planning and provision of support role to incidents as they arise and emergency situations.
Qualifications / Skills/ Experience:
- Third level qualification in Health & Safety is strongly preferred.
- Additional qualification in an Environmental discipline is an advantage.
- Ability to work on own initiative and be innovative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Experience with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 450001.
- Highly PC literate; Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.
- DGSA qualification or knowledge of the carriage of dangerous good by road would be an advantage.
- Experience in confined spaces, working at heights and chemical handling would be an advantage.
- Relevant hands on experience in a similar environment would be an advantage.
- Must have a full, clean, driving licence.
