Job Purpose and Impact
The China Customer Lead is a key member of the China Metals leadership team, responsible for customizing, selling, and actualizing the solution that Cargill deliver to the targeted ferrous customers. In this customer facing role, you will lead China customer organization to develop new business opportunities, build and foster relationships with internal Cargill stakeholders that leverage Metals value proposition, with main focus on Cargill Metals and Cargill Risk Management, and external customers to achieve growth/revenue objectives. You will develop in depth understanding of customer's needs and provide risk management solutions to serve those needs. You will promote awareness and understanding of product price risk with customers, develop customer interest for enrolment into the risk management programs and offer tools that generate value for customers. - Drive direct PNL generation from various solution sales activities.
- Develop and implement solution sales strategy for designated key customer segments to expand demand, improve margin growth and extend strategic partnership.
- Develop strategy execution plans in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions.
- Develop mutually beneficial and long-term partnerships with customers, clarify mid to long term customer needs and define and agree to a specification of customer requirements.
- Connect the dots: Required to understand Cargill Metal’s trading, risk management and operating model to be able to connect the dots between Cargill’s capabilities and the needs of the customer to understand what types of solution Cargill can develop and deliver profitably on a risk adjusted basis.
- Leverage broad Global Cargill Metals Customer Group’s capabilities and solution tool kits, with the aim of applying cross-regional learnings in China
- Build an internal network to deliver optimal solutions such as leading collaboration with key stakeholders internally, defining long term strategy and anticipate challenges to ensure effective resolution of issues.
- Define and deliver value proposition through the collection of insights from the external market to understand competitors and influencing trends.
- Persuade and influence customers through the use of tailored storytelling, creating excitement around our role in achieving their strategic objectives. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Experience in commodity risk management solution sales (non-standard / complex customized nature)
- Proven record track record of delivering innovative solutions with clear standalone PNL generation to complex customer requirements
- > 8 years of relevant or related experience, preferably in ferrous commodity risk management service industry in China
- Experience with derivatives trading and/or design of complex solutions with derivatives tools, with substantial quantitative analysis experience
- Experience understanding customer context, uncovering customer key performance indicators, articulating customer objectives and adding value to partnerships.
- Communicate effectively both internally and externally
- Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin, Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear manner
- Team player, high degree of initiative and ability to work independently
- Highly self-motivated with strong drive for results and achievement
- Team management experience
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
- Experience working in ferrous (Iron Ore and/or steel) businesses
- In-depth knowledge in China ferrous industry
- Three years of managerial experience
- Project management and account management experience is desired
